Dear stakeholders,

As Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, we are fully aware that sustainable tourism initiatives minimize negative impacts on society and the environment, and we recognize the responsibilities that fall upon us in this regard.

ABOUT THE REPORT

Our goal is to leave a better world for future generations. For this reason, we continue our efforts in many areas, including energy, water, and waste management; reducing environmental impacts; preserving cultural heritage; and improving the quality of life for both the local community and visitors. By focusing on the effective management of sustainable tourism initiatives, we aim to continuously improve our overall efficiency, quality, and environmental performance.

We launched our sustainability initiatives in 2023. In our sustainability report, we outlined the work we have done in the areas of economic, environmental, cultural, social, community, human, waste management, energy, and water conservation. We aim to share the progress we have made in this regard with our employees, guests, suppliers, and all other stakeholders. The success and continuity of our efforts will only be possible by working together with our employees, guests, suppliers, and all our stakeholders.

OUR VISION

This report, which we plan to prepare annually, serves as an important communication tool for sharing the work we have done and will continue to do to promote sustainable tourism.

OUR MISSION
ABOUT THE FACILITY

We exist to be the face of our region’s hospitality sector—one that is environmentally conscious, committed to guest satisfaction, innovative, open to growth, and the first choice for visitors.

Olympos Köyevi has been in operation since 2000. It was built as a synthesis of authentic Anatolian architecture and Lycian architecture. It is a 20-room establishment featuring a restaurant serving local cuisine.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT POLICY

As Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, we protect the environment, prevent pollution, and prioritize preserving resources for future generations.

To this end;

  • We adhere to laws and regulations.
  • As a business, we prioritize sorting the waste we generate according to type and hazard class. We have a composting
    system for our organic waste and take care to collect plastic, batteries, paper, bottles, and oil waste separately.
  • We use hazardous materials and chemicals only as much as necessary, ensure they have labels indicating environmental safety, and thereby minimize harm to the environment.
  • As Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, we prioritize products labeled as “recyclable” and “eco-friendly,” thereby supporting environmental protection.
  • We do not use single-use items. Bath products, shampoos, and soaps in the rooms are refillable and not single-use.
  • We store waste in separate areas according to type, hand it over to authorized companies, and maintain all necessary records.
  • In line with our commitment to the environment, we prioritize the conservation of energy, water, and all other natural resources. We share this commitment with our employees, guests, suppliers, and all other stakeholders.
  • We monitor our performance in environmental management, track compliance with targets, and strive to continuously improve our performance.
  • We aim to enhance our staff’s environmental awareness through training programs focused on environmental protection.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY POLICY

To combat the climate crisis, we use energy efficiently and undertake initiatives to support reduced energy consumption.

In this context;

  • We regularly monitor the amount of energy we consume and take necessary measures to improve our energy efficiency.
  • We monitor and fulfill our legal obligations regarding energy efficiency.
  • We carry out initiatives to support energy efficiency, reduce energy usage, and continuously improve our energy consumption performance, and we monitor the results.
  • We incorporate energy efficiency into our training programs to ensure employee participation.
  • We prioritize raising awareness about energy efficiency among our guests, employees, visitors, and suppliers, and value collaboration with all our stakeholders.
  • We strive to purchase and use products, equipment, and machinery with high energy efficiency.
  • We aim to document our Energy Management System, share it with all our departments, and continuously improve our energy performance.
  • We assess energy risks and potential emergencies in this context and take necessary precautions.

SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT POLICY

  • As Olympos Köyevi Pension, we prioritize that our suppliers possess Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Quality Assurance Management Systems, and internationally recognized environmental and sustainability certifications.
  • We ensure that the products we source are environmentally friendly.
  • When selecting suppliers, we prioritize their environmental awareness, proper use of resources, and compliance with fishing regulations.
  • We aim to purchase products that generate less waste and can be delivered with minimal packaging.
  • We prioritize purchasing devices that consume less energy.
  • In our purchases, we prefer products made from recycled materials or that are recyclable, organic, not tested on animals, and free of harmful chemical components.
  • We prioritize working with local suppliers to support the development of our region.
  • At Olympos, we prioritize ensuring our purchases are efficient and environmentally conscious, and that they reflect our culture and traditions. We share these approaches with our suppliers.
  • We prioritize ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, regardless of gender.
  • We support women taking active roles in hotel management.
  • Across all departments, we ensure an equitable distribution of responsibilities and prioritize support for women in the workforce.
  • Olympos Köyevi Pansiyon provides equal pay for equal work without gender discrimination.

  • We prioritize work conditions that maintain a balance between work, family, and life.
  • As the Olympos Köyevi Pension family, we never tolerate women being subjected to abuse, harassment, discrimination, bullying, slander, or similar situations.
  • We offer services aimed at children’s development and create environments where they can freely express their wishes, thoughts, and feelings.
  • We never permit the employment of child labor at our hotel and ensure that all our business partners act in accordance with this principle.
  • We ensure that children are under adult supervision during the activities they participate in.
  • All children are equal regardless of gender, race, religion, language, or culture, and Olympos Köyevi Pension never tolerates discrimination in this regard.
  • If we notice any activities involving children that raise concerns, we first report them to hotel management; if necessary, we also notify the relevant authorities.

As the Olympos Köyevi Pansiyon family, we fully support the presence of women in our hotel and recognize the value they bring to both us and the world.

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS POLICY

At Olympos Köyevi Pansiyon, we recognize that children shape our future. Recognizing them as individuals, protecting them from all forms of psychological, physical, commercial, and other forms of exploitation, and creating a healthy and safe environment are among our primary responsibilities.

To ensure this;

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

The following energy-saving initiatives are implemented at our hotel, and their continuity is ensured.

  • Energy-saving bulbs and LED lights are used in our hotel.
  • Motion-sensor lights are used for lighting in the restrooms of common areas.
  • Our guest rooms do not have TVs or refrigerators.
  • Our hotel uses an Energy Saver System.
  • Regular maintenance is performed on cold storage rooms, refrigerators, ice machines, and gas stoves to prevent energy loss, and we take care to avoid overusing refrigerators.
  • To reduce electricity consumption from washing and drying, we change towels in the rooms of guests who do not request them only when they ask.
  • Double-pane windows are used in all rooms of our hotel for thermal insulation.
  • Oven and refrigerator door gaskets are periodically inspected to prevent heat loss, and worn-out ones are replaced with new ones.
  • Thanks to frequency-controlled water pump systems, water consumption is reduced based on the number of guests, preventing motors from running continuously under electrical load.
  • The air conditioners in our hotel are designed to minimize energy consumption.
  • We provide hot water using solar energy through our solar water heaters.
  • The lights along the hallways leading to the rooms are sensor-activated.

Acting with the awareness that future generations will need more clean water sources, we at Olympos Köyevi Pension are reducing our water usage.

  • Aerators have been installed on all faucets in our guest rooms, staff areas, and common areas.
  • Water flow rates have been reduced in all sinks and showers at our hotel to conserve water.
  • Each flush from the toilets in our facility uses a maximum of 4 liters of water.
  • Maintenance of our water tank is performed regularly, and records are kept.
  • We use a drip irrigation system for garden watering at our hotel.
  • To reduce water consumption from laundry, we change towels in the rooms of guests who do not request them every other day.
  • A dual-flush system is used in our restrooms to conserve water.
  • To prevent water loss, garden irrigation is conducted after sunset.
  • We have licensed water wells on our own property, which we use after treatment and measurement.
  • We provide training to our staff on the importance of waste separation and how to do it.
  • Trash bins are available in the common areas of our hotel to allow guests to sort their waste.
  • Recycling bins have been placed in the kitchen and all bars to ensure waste is properly sorted at the source.
  • To reduce packaging waste, we do not use single-use breakfast items.

OUR WATER CONSUMPTION

WASTE MANAGEMENT

As Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, our Waste Management System aims to reduce waste volume and minimize environmental harm by recovering recyclable materials through proper waste management.

  • Thanks to training provided to staff, used cooking oil is no longer poured down drains but is collected and sent to licensed companies.
  • By purchasing in bulk, we reduce our solid waste production and strive to prevent environmental damage.
  • We conduct our correspondence via email to reduce paper consumption.
  • In all restrooms at our hotel, there are informational signs reminding guests and staff to dispose of trash in trash cans rather than flushing it down the toilet.

OUR WASTE GENERATION

HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT

We monitor our hazardous waste volume and strive to produce as little hazardous waste as possible. We collect, store, and label the hazardous waste we generate under appropriate conditions and send it to licensed waste management companies. Through our environmental training programs, we ensure that our employees manage hazardous waste properly.

We regularly measure the polar compound percentages of our frying oils and adjust them accordingly. We temporarily store these oils under appropriate conditions and deliver them to licensed waste management companies.

Through the used battery collection boxes we have placed at specific locations in our hotel, we prevent the environmental harm caused by used batteries and hand them over to the municipality.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

  • Our departments have received training on environmental issues, and these trainings have been documented.
  • In line with our procurement policy, we select all equipment and machinery with the highest energy efficiency, purchase in bulk, and thereby keep environmental impact to a minimum.
  • As part of the THE ROOM HOTELS family, we organize environmental activities and conduct neighborhood cleanups in our region.
  • We provide our employees with chemical usage training conducted by experts and strive to minimize environmental harm.
  • To reduce environmental impact, we are gradually phasing out plastic use. In line with this, we have started using paper straws instead of plastic ones.
  • We dispose of all hazardous waste through licensed companies to prevent it from entering the environment.

CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT

As a business, we prefer eco-friendly cleaning products and strive to minimize the environmental harm caused by chemicals by using these products sparingly. In this way, we reduce the environmental impact of chemicals as a business.

We provide Chemical Safety Training to our staff on how and where to use chemicals, as well as what to do in case of spills or leaks.

OUR STAFF TRAINING




At Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, we prioritize a training-first approach. We conduct our training programs using both internal and external resources.

Through our orientation training, we ensure our employees are equipped to provide the best possible service.

Additionally, through Occupational Health and Safety Training provided by experts at our hotel, we create a healthy and safe work environment. As a business, we provide First Aid Training to designated staff members to ensure proper initial response during emergencies.

Through our Environmental Training programs, we educate our employees on protecting natural resources and wildlife, reducing waste production, proper waste separation, and the management of hazardous waste.

Through our Chemical Usage and Hygiene Training programs, we raise awareness among our employees.

We provide Fire Safety Training at our hotel and conduct fire drills with our employees.

We also provide Sustainable Tourism Training to all our employees at our hotel and ensure they are fully engaged in this process.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES

ACCESSIBLE LIVING

As Olympos Köyevi Guesthouse, we care about our guests with disabilities and work to accommodate them. We have made some of our bathrooms accessible

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS

As Olympos Village House Guesthouse, we conduct both in-house and external environmental education programs. We educate our staff on topics such as energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources, reducing chemical use, waste management, and protecting wildlife, and involve them in our initiatives.

PROTECTION OF ENDEMIC PLANTS

When designing our landscape, we prioritize the use of endemic plants. We cultivate endemic plants such as lavender, thyme, rosemary, and mint, ensuring the sustainability of our cultural heritage. We use plants native to this region, such as olive and pomegranate, and take special care to cultivate vines and other tree species known to grow here. FIRE PREVENTION

We are working to protect the hundreds of trees and plants within and around our hotel in the event of a fire. In this context, we provide fire safety training to our staff and conduct fire drills with them.

As Olympos Köyevi Pension, we support the Blue Lid Campaign organized by the Turkish Spinal Cord Injury Association. Through the lid collection boxes located in various areas of our hotel, we are a source of hope for people with disabilities.
